Challenges
The door manufacturer’s roadmap from sales to manufacturing and final dispatch of doors and frames was routed through phone calls and paper-based spreadsheets. It resulted in chaotic process for generating custom drawings and manual price quoting. Also, the average response time for responding to customer enquiries was estimated up to 4-5 days.
Approach
We discovered the scope of automation in generating custom drawings and quoting accurate pricing to accelerate the lead time. To implement design automation, our design automation engineers transformed AutoCAD drawings to SolidWorks models of locks, accessories and door designs to be customized later.
DriveWorks experts at Hitech developed a set of logical rules and SQL database to customize master CAD models using DriveWorks Live module and embed an online product configurator. It enabled the customers to directly configure the door design which would immediately generate accurate sales quotes, right pricing.
Also, it automatically generated BOMs, other technical documents and manufacturing drawings for the manufacturer to shorten the customer response time and accurate technical documents.
